Teeth are made up of four different kinds of dental tissues: enamel, dentin, a hard or calcified tissue called cementum, and pulp, which is soft tissue that is not calcified. The part of the tooth you can see is called the crown. The crown is made of enamel, a super-hard substance that is not living tissue.
That provides teeth with strength and durability, but because enamel is not made up of living tissues, it can’t naturally repair the damage that occurs from wear and tooth decay. That’s the work performed by your Partners In Dental Care doctor.
